NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Contest
Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following giving up a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets managed just 82 offensive yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Offense
In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had possession with a chance to score a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented after the contest.
